Project Kahn RS600 with 600bhp – 2010 Range Rover Sport 5.0 HSE Supercharged

Project Kahn RS600 based on 2010 Range Rover Sport 5.0 HSE Supercharged – 16.02.2010

British tuners Kahn Design have released their latest iteration of the Range Rover. The Project Kahn 2010 Range Rover Sport RS600 uses a supercharged 5.0-liter HSE petrol engine producing 600 horsepower.

Aside from the performance boost, engineers added or adapted ten different body parts on the exterior. 22-inch RS alloy wheels have also been installed. The interior is kitted out with quilted leather front and rear seats, with the material also used on the dash and glove box. Black leather on the gear shift and steering wheel features contrasting stitches.

Other features on the vehicle includes electric blue speedo, tach, and clock. Kahn Design have now begun taking orders on the Project Kahn RS600 conversion package.

Will be unveiled later this year

Our spies have caught a Land Rover LRX prototype undergoing winter testing in Scandinavia.

Still wearing a Freelander 2 (aka LR2) body, the mule sports a shortened wheelbase which is clearly visible as several inches have been hacked off the rear end. While it’s not much to look at, Land Rover’s design director, Gerry McGovern, has previously stated “The new vehicle (the LRX) will be a natural extension to the Range Rover line-up, complementing the existing models and helping to define a new segment. It will be true to the concept and have many recognizable Range Rover design cues including the signature clamshell bonnet, the floating roof and the solid ‘wheel-at-each-corner’ stance.”

Engine options will likely be a 2.2-liter four-cylinder turbodiesel (with 160hp and 400 Nm of torque) and a 3.2-liter petrol inline six (with 230 hp and 317 Nm of torque). Eventually, a hybridized 2.0-liter turbodiesel may also be offered – it was previewed in the LRX Hybrid concept).

The production ready LRX will be unveiled later this year, with a global launch scheduled for 2011.

Land Rover has unveiled the Freelander 2 Sport for the UK market.

Available in two different colors (Santorini Black and Lago Grey), the Sport features body-color exterior components, a rear spoiler, and exclusive 19-inch diamond-turned alloy wheels. If that isn’t aggressive enough, Land Rover also offers a sport styling package which includes revised front and rear bumper fascias.

Inside, the company dresses up the cabin with two-tone seats (with embossed Sport logos on the head restraints), a black center console, and unique floor mats.

Like the standard Freelander 2, the Sport is powered by a 2.2-liter TD4 diesel engine with 160 hp and 400 Nm of torque. While performance figures weren’t released, the Freelander 2 Sport will likely accelerate from 0-60 mph in 10.9 seconds (10.5 seconds with the optional automatic transmission) before topping out at 112 mph. On the upside, the sport-ute has a fuel consumption rating of 42.2mpg and an emissions rating of 179g/km (with the standard six-speed manual).

The Freelander 2 Sport goes on sale in January 2010 with a base price of £26,695 (OTR).

Introducing the Freelander 2 Sport, which goes on sale in the UK in January 2010.

In showrooms early next year, the Freelander 2 Sport will be available with two derivatives and two colours – Santorini Black and Lago Grey. Both will feature exclusive 19″ limited edition diamond-turned alloy-wheels, a unique two-tone interior together with a rear spoiler, colour-keyed exterior trim and matching door handles and mirror casings.

There is a standard model available in both Black and Lago Grey with cloth interior and one with a sports styling pack available only in Lago Grey.

A unique two-tone interior is introduced on both derivatives, in contrasting Ebony and Storm. The derivative featuring the sports styling pack will offer a leather interior and the standard version with a cloth/leather interior. The sporty theme continues through the cabin, with an Ebony-coloured centre-console and lower fascia complemented with two-tone door casings.

The Sport emblem is embossed on the front and outer rear seat head restraints, with Storm coloured stitching on all seats and unique Ebony interior carpet mats with contrast piping feature throughout.

The Freelander 2 Sport is available with the powerful and economical 2.2-litre TD4 diesel power unit. The manual diesel comes with Stop/Start technology delivering an 8% improvement on CO2 emissions compared to the previous manual diesel Freelander 2 (from 194g/km to 179g/km) and fuel consumption is reduced (from 37.7 to 42.2mpg – an improvement of 4.5mpg).

John Edwards, managing director, Land Rover UK said: “With its dynamic styling, the Freelander 2 Sport allows you to combine sporting characteristics with all the sustainability and driveability benefits of the intelligent Stop/Start technology.”

The Freelander 2 Sport goes on sale in January 2010, priced from £26,695 on-the-road.

Cleaner than a Freelander TD4e

Land Rover, builder of some of Europe’s biggest SUVs is going earth-friendly in a major way. It claims to be developing a new hybrid powertrain for the Range Rover Sport capable of just 100g/km of CO2 emissions.

That is an exceptionally low figure considering that the Freelander 2 TD4e manual has to make do with a relatively higher 179g/km. Even the Lexus RX450h produces a bigger figure of 148g/km. Only cars like the Citroën C1 and Ford Focus Econetic have comparable emissions numbers.

Using the new 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine and a 25kW (34hp) electric motor, the hybrid will be capable of a 20 mile (32km) electric-only range. It is understood a plug-in system is to be fitted, with extra electrical energy stored in a battery pack. A conventional storage system for the electrical charge seems to be the preferred technology and not the ultra-capacitors that the company has been testing, despite the high off-road usability of the latter due to its short, sharp energy boost capabilities.

This will be the British brand’s first hybrid but it probably won’t be the last. The confirmed-for-production LRX was presented with a hybrid powertrain at the 2008 New York Auto Show.

Ambitious as this project may seem, Land Rover is quite confident it will be achieved. Market launch is 2012 and testing begins next year where up to five prototypes will be used.

2010 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Limited Edition North American Debut

Land Rover plans to showcase the 2010 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Limited Edition for the first time in North America today. First debuted in Frankfurt, the automaker plans to lift the NA curtain on the nearly $89,000 SUV during the Los Angeles Auto Show.

Only 250 NA-bound editions will be produced, with each being painted in Santorini Black. Some of the external mods include new bumpers, lower door panels, mesh grille, rear spoiler, and 20-inch diamond wheels. Interior changes include the Autobiography signage, dark wood trim, and two-tone leather seating.

Buyers will receive the supercharged 5.0-liter V8 engine generating 510 horsepower and up to 461 ft-lb of torque. On the Range Rover Sport, the supercharged unit powers the vehicle to 60 mph in 5.9 seconds. It is unclear if the Autobiography package affects that time.

The 2010 Range Rover Sport Autobiography Limited Edition should hit the market after its LA debut.

Autobiography – A Beneficiary of a Better Basis

The foundation for the Autobiography model – the updated 2010 Range Rover Sport – puts even more emphasis on driving dynamics over prior model years. From the new suspension that monitors the suspension at up to 500 times per second and adjusts to suit individual driving style, to the new Dynamic setting on the Terrain Response ™ system in the Supercharged model which provides heightened responsiveness during enthusiastic on-road driving, the new Sport feels much more agile, more athletic. Onyx Concept Enhances Range Rover Sport

Onyx Concepts Range Rover Sport with Platinum S widebody package

When we last checked in with tuner firm, Concept802, they had just finished work on their Platinum S widebody upgrade kit for the Range Rover Sport. Following changes in the company’s structure, Concept802 is now Onyx Concept, and they have added a few new features to go with the conversion.

In additon to the widebody conversion, Onyx has added to the mix their 14-piece interior panel kit, A&D pillars, front grill and side vents all made from 100% solid carbon fiber, not overlay or laminated parts. Onyx has added a suspension lowering system, Onyx branded TPM 22-inch wheels available in a range of offsets to suit the widebody and standard cars, and perforated buffalo hide diamond stitched leather with a range of contrasting colors. Although no details were given, Onyx also offers power upgrades for diesel and petrol models.

For the near future, Onyx is working on their Platinum V conversion for the Range Rover Vogue. They were kind enough to provide a few renderings of the package. This new edition is expected to include a redesigned bodykit constructed mainly out of carbon fiber. The renderings show alterations to the front bumper, when compared to Platinum S. Gone will be the traditional fog lights in favor of LED strips. A carbon fibre grille matches the blacked-out double-spoke TPM custom wheels. Their renderings also appears to include redesigned rear bumper, dual exhaust instead of quad, and a new rear diffuser also made from carbon fiber.

Onyx Concept plans to make the Platinum V kit available for older Vogue Range Rovers, as well as the 2010 model year. The set-up should hit the market in mid-December, with delivery to their dealers in the Russian Federation, UAE, UK, and US.

British tuner has a new body kit to muscle-out the Range Rover Sport

The Range Rover Sport gets a do-over from British tuner Prestige.

The Prestige S kit for the Range Rover Sport converts this premium SUV’s styling to a more muscled-out look and includes a variety of optics/aerodynamic cues to do the trick.

The new front bumper comes with air intakes and fog lights while the extended wheel arches give the Range Rover Sport a wider stance. Air intakes are also present on the new rear door paneling.

Door panels also extend downward to create a side skirt effect as well as give the Range Rover Sport the appearance of a lowered ride height, but the tuning here is limited to the bodywork.

The rear bumper is also lowered and made to hold the exhaust pipes and comes with a towing mount cover.

Additonal options to be had include LED headlights, side wing and bonnet vents, radiator grill, and spoilers for the rear.

For the inside are a series of bespoke-themed leather finishes and other detailing.

Startech has unveiled their new styling packages for the Land Rover Range Rover and the Land Rover Freelander 2 (LR2).

The Range Rover receives LED daytime running lights, 22-inch Monostar IV light-alloy wheels, and dual trapezoidal stainless-steel exhaust tips. For the interior, Startech adds exclusive wood trim, leather door panels, and various other accessories. Customers can also turn their Range Rover into an “office on wheels” or a “mobile multimedia lounge with state-of-the-art communication technology.”

On the other hand, the Freelander 2 features a revised front bumper (with integrated LED daytime running lights), a new rear apron, a stainless-steel sport exhaust system, and 20-inch Monostar IV light-alloy wheels. Inside, Startech replaces the dull interior with custom leather upholstery and bright trim accents.

The company is currently working on packages for the facelifted 2010 Range Rover and 2010 Range Rover Sport (two rendered images attached). While details are limited, Startech says they will feature an aerodynamic body kit, a modified suspension, 22-inch wheels, and a custom interior with leather and alcantara upholstery as well as precious-wood inlays.

At the Frankfurt Motor Show IAA 2009 the Land Rover Freelander 2 with STARTECH design celebrates its world debut.

The face of the English SUV receives more character with the sporty yet elegant STARTECH front element with integrated LED daytime running lights. The new front element was designed to attach to the lower part of the production bumper.

The STARTECH attachment for the liftgate continues the contour of the rear bumper across its entire width. The result is an even more balanced rear appearance of the Freelander 2 compared with the production car.

The fully stainless-steel STARTECH sport exhaust system with chrome-plated tailpipes left and right adds yet another visual and acoustic highlight. Custom-tailored versions of the exhaust system are available for all Freelander 2 models.

STARTECH Monostar IV light-alloy wheels give the Freelander 2 an even more refined appearance and increase both driving fun and safety reserves. The one-piece five-spoke wheels in size 9Jx20 are mounted with size 265/45 R 20 tires front and back and make full use of the available space under the wheel arches.
